ICAD Upstarts

The 2009 Upstarts programme final workshop took place on Monday. That’s not the end of it though, now the work for the exhibition gains pace and we’ll be opening the exhibition on November 3rd in Space@Rothco as part of  Design Week! The Design Upstarts will be taking charge of the exhibition design and identity while the Advertising Upstarts have a few viral and ambient tricks up their sleeves!

Wood Collective is part of Design Week 2009

Our environment and economy has the potential to benefit considerably if we refine, develop and integrate existing ideas, research & development models and strategic policy on the way forestry, a key natural resource, could be developed here. We must strategically and cohesively plan to manage & develop what resources we do have, and use them in a way that is both economically and environmentally sustainable.

‘Inspired by our ongoing collaborative works with wood, we seek to offer and facilitate a forum for sources of inspiration and invention, to draw attention to wood as a building material with a goal to develop the perception, usage and visibility of the material in new and innovative ways.’

Cycle Chic is part of Design Week 2009

The CYCLE CHIC Fashion Show reflects the spirit of the streets of Copenhagen, Amsterdam and Paris where cycling does not include wearing gawky reflective jackets and unattractive helmets. The CYCLE CHIC Fashion Show aim’s to persuade people that cycling can be trendy.

Last year the CYCLE CHIC Fashion Show was organised by Cork City Council within the TRENDY TRAVEL’s promotional scheme on cycling. It was supported by Intelligent Energy Europe and part of Design Week 2008, a national event which celebrates design and creativity all over the country by organising exhibitions, workshops and conferences.

ICAD Upstarts Programme 2009

The ICAD Upstarts Programme 2009 will start with an induction evening on August 24th. 24 up and coming creatives have been chosen to take part and they will be visiting 6 ad agencies or 6 design studios over a 6 week period. The work they undertake during the programme will be unveiled during Design Week 2009 in association with Bombay Sapphire.
